When Maggie Walker chose to hold the 1925 annual St. Luke Convention in New York City, she had no idea that the local councils there would honor their leader with the gift of a carved marble bust. On August 20th, at the close of the convention, Walker penned in her diary, “To live to be so honored is a joy inexpressible.”
